FEEDBACK FROM STUDENTS
Oslo Cathedral School ( February 14, 2003 )
Dear Vilde Bjerke! Thank you for a fabulous lecture on your father. It was a true
adventure. I was really moved when you read the poem about keeping the child in
yourself. Greetings from Elisabeth
Dear Vilde Bjerke. Thank your for coming here to talk about your father. It was very
instructive and great listening to. You're a great singer, too! Greetings from Ylva.
Dear Vilde Bjerke! Grandmother in the Pine. And the Farao! I guess we have all heard your
father's poems, although we didn't remember the names of the poetry collections.
I am going to read now, about you and your father. To hear about such love and joy in the
midst of a busy day is strange. I hope more people in this country will have the opportunity
to listen to this joyful and peculiar speech! Eva
Dear Vilde Bjerke. Your lecture was wonderful! The fact that you didn't have a script, made
the whole performance lively and exciting. The poetry recitals were also great, and the
way you read and sang them with great charisma. "In the country Miramar Mora", a poem
I had long forgotten, reminded me of how much this poem used to mean to me. Your
lecture made me want to read more about André Bjerke (I have always been interested in
his poems), and also to read your book about him. Greetings from Marianne.
Dear Vilde. Friendly, beautiful and nice Vilde. Thank you so much for your fabulous and
colourful performance. We feel so grateful. Thank you. Synne
Dear Vilde Bjerke. As you can see from the enclosure, the students very much appreciated
your visit - and so did the teachers! Thanks again! Greetings from Hilde.
Valler College ( March 19, 2003 )
Dear Vilde Bjerke. Thank you so much for a very instructive lecture and performance,
filled with understanding and love. It was a new and exciting way of learning about writers.
To hear about Bjerke from his own daughter was a very special experience, and at the end
of the lecture, I felt that I had known him myself. You made both him and his poems alive
in front of us with great sympathy. As part of this audience, I felt privileged, so I hope that
you will continue sharing your stories about him. Greetings from Kristine.
Dear Vilde Bjerke. Thanks for a great and humorous speech! It was very interesting and
informative. I feel that we got to know André Bjerke in a new and different way. I have,
myself, written a school paper on him, so it was great to learn more about his exciting life
and personality! You really caught the attention of the audience. I hope you will continue
lecturing on your father, so that even more people can get to know him! Greetings from
Ane.
Hi! First of all I want to thank you for a very entertaining and interesting lecture. Your
words and thoughts provided me with a whole new picture of André Bjerke, a picture no
schoolbook could have provided. No writer of schoolbooks can recreate such a personal
impression. Thank you very much! Greetings from Martin.
Hi Vilde Bjerke. I want to thank you for a great lecture on André Bjerke. You must have
done this many times before and it was easy to follow you. You used a lot of humour in
your speech, which was great. I liked it. Jan Erik
For Vilde Bjerke. André Bjerke apparently lived a life very different from what I had
imagined. You were very much alive and were able to catch the audience's attention. Great
lecture! Anders.
To Vilde Bjerke. Thanks for a nice lecture. You painted a nice picture of your father and
added to the already existing portrait of a man critical of society. The humorous spirit of
you performance and the fact that you read from his work, elevated the lecture. Greetings
from Liv.
To Vilde Bjerke. Thanks for a very nice lecture on one of Norway 's most exciting writers.
You were so much alive and caught the audience's attention in a great way. The lecture
had great variation. Usually I am able to find a lot of information on the internet, but not in
this case. Nobody can give a more personal expose on this subject, than you can.
Greetings from Carl Fredrik.
To Vilde Bjerke. Many thanks for a very interesting lecture about your father. He was one
of the most interesting poets in Norway . You were very much into the material, and
presented it ingeniously. The lecture was wide-ranging and included a lot of facts about
André Bjerke. This gave us stuff we would not find anywhere else. Greetings from Patrick.
To Vilde Bjerke. We were lucky to get a chance to experience your lecture. I choose the
word "to experience", because it was an experience. No doubt that you have actor's blood
floating through your veins. The way you used your arms and legs, and most importantly
your face, was impressive. It was all so alive and interesting. It was great to get all this
inside information about such an interesting man. He's a person I have always heard
about, but only now do I feel that I am getting to know him. Thank you so much for a great
lecture about an incredible man. Ida.
To Vilde Bjerke. Thanks a lot for taking the time to visit our college. You held a great
lecture which was different from what we are used to. We have not often had the visits of
children of famous writers. Personally I liked your poetry recitals, and the fact that you
shared you personal opinion about the poems with us, and the background of how the
poems came about. You must have been very close to your father. Much of what you told
us was new to me. Greetings from Martin.
Good Morning. First of all I want to thank you for a wonderful and very informative lecture
which I will late forget. Thank you! It was a magnificent speech with both song and poetry,
which showed us more than one side of this beautiful person. You told us about the man
and the father, things that are easier to remember when you are having an exam. Also
great to hear about a poet, who might have been different but as ingenious as other poets
we've heard about the past years. You have given us a lot to think about. Thanks! Geir
Dear Vilde. Thanks for a fantastic lecture, where you really succeeded in portraying André
Bjerke, both as poet and a father. You showed a true understanding which really engaged
the audience. Keep up the good work! Erik.
Dear Vilde. Thank you so much for sharing yourself and your father with us. You speak
about the people who were close to you in an admirable way. It must be strange to have a
father whose poems (or were they yours?) so many kids grew up with. To have a mother
who was also famous, must have been difficult. It was great to hear you talk about your
life and your relationship to such a beloved writer, who was also your father. Inevitably,
André Bjerke's verses and poems for children have followed me through my childhood. But
his work has also been a part of my youth. I am very interested in theatre, and I have
read translations of Shakespeare in many languages, but nobody succeeds like you father,
to capture the essence of the drama between the actors. Therefore, I would like to thank
you once more for sharing this part of you with us. Greetings Eileen.
Dear Vilde Bjerke. My students were so enthusiastic after your performance about André
Bjerke. Personally, I will never forget how he made a toast like a Lillelord or that he
named his cat 'Little Soul'! So a teacher's thanks as well. May-Lin Svantesen. ----------------
